This piece is an homage to explorers, my Dutch heritage and in recognizing that the start of any journey begins in childhood dreams. “Wynken, Blynken and Nod” is a poem by American writer Eugene Field about 3 children who go fishing amongst the stars on a sailboat made out of a wooden shoe. It is a fantastical lullaby designed to send children off to sleep and the land of dreams.
These are variations of the "wooden shoe" or "klompen" in Dutch and "boot" or "boat" in German. I use this term to talk about almost any clog form of mine (aside from the tanks) be they boats, trains, whatever.
